I have some questions if you don't mind. What engine are you installing? Are you using motor mounts or motor plates? How far back did you make the firewall, where the engine sticks into it? What thickness sheet metal did you use for the firewall and for the cab floor?
I am building a 56 Dodge and am installing a 440 with motor plates, and of course I am running into all kinds of battles! I am really going to have to cut into the firewall deep to get enough clearance for the big block!
Thanks for your help. Your build looks great!!

...why use a plate? seems that individual mounts would be easier to install unless this is a drag race thing.
Re: 1954 Dodge C1 Pickup Hot Rod Build Thread
I am using plates for clearance issues only. It is very hard to squeeze a big block in the coke bottle shaped frame, with an IFS suspension up front. No room for engine mounts, headers, or steering linkage. I am heading out to work on my truck now, and will determine for certain if I am going with the plates....but I am leaning that way.
Only thing with the plates is I don't want to mount them rigid to the frame. Trying to work out some mounting system where I can use bushings to eliminate some of the vibration. Trying to get the best of both worlds here....but it is not easy!
Thanks....AkBillyBow

All dependent on how/where the ends of the plate meet the frame there are plenty of 'biscuits' that will work for the cushion. Look at the transfer case mounts in a 70's W-150-200.
