alright
Penny doing O.K one of my tires is wearing goofy since the accident so now I have steel cord showing on my right front so trying not to drive it, I am shipping off the South Korea for the Airforce on the 8th of march 2013 so Penny will sit in my driveway In AZ for a year, so I dont want to get new tires since they are just going to sit and rot and get flat spots. I did make it out to a rally a few of my buddys put on down at the Arizona state capital to protest the shutting down of are local dragstrip Speedworld, It made the news and penny was taped but when I watched the broadcast later that night they cropped penny out, just being able see pieces of penny...Kinda sucked, and from what I heard the Gov still shut it down over dirty politics.....its a Shame. I even dressed penny up with two US flags to fly for the shoot.

I bought a Macbook Pro laptop awhile back for the "FaceTime" program much like Skype but a better all around program so that me and my wife could talk using her Iphone/ Ipad while Im deployed to Korea for a year. So I started hating this thing, Cursing at Mac and swearing I would never buy another, and while I still feel this way about most of the computer a buddy deployed here with me, who is a huge computer nerd. told me the main reason people get Macs is the Video editing software, so I thought i would try it, so I downloaded it free for mac users and it amazing so easy and fun and so many options. It really helps pass the time, editing videos until I get back to my Family and truck. Oh and the program is called IMOVIE.

If (for some reason) that nasty chrome "V" falls off of your hood.... I would even pay the postage to help you get rid of it.
Â
Just cant seem to find one of those.
Anyways, I like keeping up on your progress and hope all is going well for you. Cant wait till your back to see more vid of you driving that truck. Maybe I will get down that way some day with mine. Be safe

I have a extra one I use for my garage display but some jackass drilled holes into it from the outside so its going to take some work to repair, though its not going anywhere  . I do seem to come across alot of extra parts for these through craigslist so i will keep an eye out for one and let you know, neither of mine came with my truck I just got lucky finding the good one i got for cheap, and the extra i got for free.

That would be great if you spot one for a decent price. Even damaged is ok
That display is amazing... and in better shape than my truck! I cant find any parts up here so I rely on ebay and once in awhile Kijiji (like craigslist)

Re: 1957 Dodge "Penny" build thread
Well quick update, Made it home from my 1 year tour over in South Korea, got home and when i left i told my wife to start my truck every two weeks and let it run for about 20 minutes. Well she ran it out of gas after the first month. and was never able to start it again. So last night I started to try and get my daily driver Penny started after sitting for over a year.
After some trouble shooting I found the engine was getting no spark and narrowed it down to the coil. so bought a new coil popped it in and it started right up.
checked everything over real good, went to get inside put my foot on the brake pedal and it went all the way to the floor…. I was pissed after missing my truck for a year it seamed like I was never going to drive it again at this rate ( I know I'm dramatic   ) But anyways I bleed the whole system and still nothing, so then i adjusted every wheel, (drum brakes on all 4) and nothing, still went to the floor. so started calling around all the parts stores and last i called Carquest it was the only auto parts store to stock one and they had it in their warehouse a few minutes away. after throwing the new master on and bleeding the brakes the truck stops on a dime, but I have noticed when I floor it the truck starts coughing…
So thats for the next story...

Re: 1957 Dodge "Penny" build thread
So little update on Penny… as stated before It hasn't been running right since my return from Korea. It has a bad miss, and starts to cut out when warmed up under a heavy load. only able to drive short distances and preferably at night when its cool.
So I went through the whole system new. Fuel pump, rebuilt the Carb.
Had extra back up electrical components like the voltage regulator and ignition box. swapped them out and nothing. So I was down to the fuel sending unit, a fuel line, or a distributor, or plugs and wires. So this weekend after driving it like this for months. I decided the cheapest rout would be first... a tune up. So driving to the parts store I started to wonder to my self could I have gotten a bad Coil, when I changed the 1st bad one out right after i got back from Korea? It would make sense thats when the issue started. even though I thought it could be dual issues.
So while at the parts store I bought a Accel Coil. I liked the fact it was all chromey compared to my blah looking blue stocker replacement. well about two hours ago. Took it around the block… And Penny has never been quicker and smoother. with all the new stuff and rebuilt carb. Now that it running right. It kind of scared me. pinned me to the seat and I had a smile from ear to ear.
Had to share this with you guys. Its been really stressing me out since I got back. And I feel kind of stupid since it was such a easy fix. But how often do you get a bad part from a reputable Parts store….
Few problems to work out still. (This helps me keep reference on what I need to do)
- I need to take a sander to my thermostat housing surface on my intake. It has always leaked and is getting real bad.
- Radiator has started cracking all over and pissing coolant out of every where. So a new Custom radiator needs to be in the works.
- Having some issues with my electric fans as they stopped working a few days ago. (but I got a mechanical too so no biggy)
- Need to try to see if I can rebuild one of my electric cutouts since the electric motor in it took a crap. So I put a block of plate on my Y-pipe. or buy a new one.
- Reverse lights keep popping fuses so need to figure out where a short is.
- Kick down linkage needs to be adjusted. I shift the truck manually everywhere even though its a Auto. So its never been a problem. Just something I haven't done since installing the 727.
- Rear main seal and rear diff have developed pretty bad leaks so one of these days I need to take care of those.
Also on that note. I want to change to a car oil pan and pickup to give myself more room above my front axle.
-Rear Tires, the ones on it are getting pretty sick of burnouts
-BIG(expensive) plans include… Paint, 87-90 Dakota frame swap, new wood/strips for the bed. And I would like some new from rims(Slimmer) I went to wide originally and it has bugged me ever since.
