From the land of the cold: Quebec
Hi everybody!
Yep! From the land of the cold comes the new guy (me).
I found your forum while "Googleing". I am only in the very first phase of building: getting the money to buy a Fargo 1952 that was a school bus in its glory days.
So, I'm trying to get any and all info on making a restorod with it. Still am not sure if I'll find doable a complete bodyswap on a more recent Dodge with a 4BT in it or just an engine swap + the works on whatever will need to be overhauled. So, for the moment, I'll beep on reading and noting anything that can be of use to me. If/when I buy the Fargo, I'll post pictures and ask for advices. 'til then...

Thanks. Now, THAT is a beautiful car you've got there. With my wife and kids, 2 seaters are still for later.

Thanks. I hope you will start a build thread here on your swap. Consider me a follower.
have you checked out 4bt.com?

Re: From the land of the cold: Quebec
Indeed I checked and joined.
It will be my second build, the first having been in 1993 IIRC. It was a simple Dodge 4 doors 1950. New coil springs made it look ackward with the front end jacked. I was asked more than once if there was an engine in it. I always answered "No, I'm using my feet like Fred Flintstone!"
For the moment the Fargo build is still only a "wish" as I must finish paying for a 1955 Chevy 150 4 doors from a Buddy before I can afford buying the Fargo.
As you can see, it is a converted panel, not a real school bus.
This is a rendering of what it probably looks like once the other car is out of the way:
For hauling my wife, 2 kids and I that'll be just perfect!

Welcome to the site!... one question why a 52? did you find one you are specifically going after?.. sorry I'm just curious as to why some people like some years over others.

Well, I have one particular 52 in mind and as it is in a remote place, I just might be lucky enough to finish paying for the 55 Chevy that I'm buying from a friend of mine and the Fargo MAY still be available then. Besides, I just LOVE any american car/truck between 1930 ans 1955. After that, they weren't round enough for me.

And if equiped with schoolbus seats, both of my 2 sons would travel without bothering each other. Of course, I'd have to get those uncomfortable seats re-upholstered or else those long travels would not be enjoyed like they should.
So many ideas for slight mods (keeping the original look as much as possible) and I don't even own the panel yet.

Re: From the land of the cold: Quebec
Couldn't yet. I have a buddy squatting my garage and the space right in front of my garage with 2 of his cars. A 1956 Mercury in the garage and a 1968 Falcon right in front. So I don't have room yet for the Fargo. The worst is that his cars were supposed to be here for 2 months MAXIMUM (last year).
The guy says he can't take 'em back yet, lacking the money and trailer to bring them back home some 250 miles away.
Being a nice guy, I don't want to push his cars in the street and call the cops. Though, I see now that some friends are note as friendly as they seem.
So, for now, the Fargo is "on the ice", hoping nobody will want it badly enough as to go in the Northern region where it is. It is almost Caribou paradise back there. They must have Santa for neighbour

Re: From the land of the cold: Quebec
My wife wanted me to push both cars in the street ans call the cops. But the cars are still titled to the persons they were bought from. One from New brunswick and the other from Alberta. I don't want them to be fined for the actual owner or I might just have reconsidered the idea.

Sure does but I try not to take this to courts. After 2 divorces, I just HATE courts.

Re: From the land of the cold: Quebec
I just realized that I never made a follow-up on that Falcon. So, the guy who owned it (my former buddy) took it away by the end of last August. Good riddance! Now, to collect infos and money before summer if the Fargo is not already sold...

Well, not much has been done. My wife decided to go back to school and Universities are hard on the money. But I don't loose hope!
