1939 - 1947 Truck owners ,past, present, future or just in love with them!!
COME ON DOWN!! Registered members may have noticed something new. We now have a forum group for 1939 - 1947 Dodge trucks. Upon my request, Rich was nice enough to get right on it. He asked me to get the ball rolling, so let's get started. I am the proud owner of a 1947.I am the 3rd owner and it is a pretty solid truck. When I got it, the engine was stuck, but after soaking the cylinders with a mixture Marvel Mystery Oil and Sloans Linament, got it freed up and fired up. Eased it around the property with no brakes, going through the gears while giving the place a good fogging. Started to run hot, so I parked it. I love the flatty six cyl and it will be kept in the truck, except it wont be stock. Hopefully this has a good base engine as it has a good old Sears Allstate rebuilt engine which was installed in 1957. It is bored .040 over, crank turned .010 and .020. I have not pulled the head but hoping I still have a good bore. I got all the info off the original Sears tag on the engine. Already have cut and split a exhaust manifold for duals. Got a pair of Smithy mufflers. Presently building a tubular dual carb intake using mandrel bent 1 1/2" exhaust tubing. Have contacted Oregon Cams to grind me a thumper. By the way, I am a OLE SKOOL 72 years young gearhead.
When I get the hang of things on the forum, I will get up a avatar and some photos of the truck and stuff. Glad to be aboard and looking foward to getting this group cranked up. Country Gent.

Hi folks, I'm new here with my 1947 Dodge.
I'm an amateur at this sort of thing but am liking this truck.
I have completely overhauled the brakes system and frond end.
Now I have to rewire the ol girl, that is my weakness...wiring....
Heres a couple of pics from when I picked it up....

Beautiful truck. Wiring takes a lot of patience but when you get it figured out there is a great feeling in accomplishment. Can't wait to see more. You should start a build thread
And remember we all love pictures

Best advice I got on wiring, Do one thing at a time and remember it starts at +(pos) and ends at -(neg)

Some one down the road converted it to 12V and did a really
crappy job.
They used speaker wire and extention cords, even I wouldnt
be that stupid.
I'm looking at maybe a Painless harness, anyone ever use them?

I used Rebel Wire on a truck and loved it. Right now I am using the ranger harness on the dodge.
